Everything you need to install, configure, and get the most from TimeSnap.
Getting Started
Installation
TimeSnap is available on the Atlassian Marketplace and installs directly into your Jira Cloud instance.
- Navigate to the Atlassian Marketplace from within your Jira Cloud admin panel.
- Search for TimeSnap for Jira.
- Click Get it now to install. Admin permissions required.
- Once installed, TimeSnap appears in your Jira sidebar under
Apps.
Requirements
- Jira Cloud
- Jira admin permissions to install apps
- No additional infrastructure required
Logging Time
TimeSnap allows you to log hours against any Jira issue in under 10 seconds.
Basic time entry
- Open TimeSnap from the Jira sidebar or navigate to a project page.
- Select the Jira issue you worked on.
- Choose an activity (e.g.,
Development,Code Review, or a custom one). - Enter the number of hours spent.
- Click Log Time. The counter updates instantly.
Timesheets
The monthly timesheet view gives you a complete picture of your logged hours across any calendar month.
Navigation
Use the date range selector at the top of the timesheet to choose your desired period, then apply the filter to view entries for that specific date range. The current month is displayed by default.
Capacity tracker
The progress bar at the bottom of the timesheet shows total logged hours against the standard 40-hour work week. It updates in real time as you add or remove entries.
Reports
Generate time reports to understand where your team's effort is being spent.
Generating a report
- Navigate to the Reports tab in TimeSnap.
- Select a date range (monthly or custom).
- Filter by team, issue, or user as needed.
- View the breakdown chart or click Export EXCEL to download.
